Claude + Steady

Read and write Steady data directly from Claude.

Claude integration for Steady

If your day already runs through Claude — drafting, debugging, working through decisions — your check-in, goal updates, and team digest don’t have to live somewhere else. Steady’s MCP server lets Claude read and write your Steady data alongside everything else you’re doing.

Have a long Slack thread you need to summarize into a goal update? Ask Claude to read the thread, pull your last few Goal Story updates from Steady, and draft a new one that builds on what’s already there. Want today’s team digest in your Claude side panel before a leadership meeting? Just ask. Claude reasons over the data and gives you what you actually need, in the format you want it.

What you can do with Claude and Steady

Pull anything from Steady into the conversation. The Daily Digest, Smart Check-in responses, Goal Stories and their updates, Echoes, team activity, insights, and upcoming absences are all available to Claude. Ask for a slice of it — “show me this week’s check-ins from the platform team” — and keep iterating from there.

Submit check-ins and post goal updates. Claude can create new check-ins, Goal Stories, and Goal Story updates on your behalf. Talk through what shipped, what’s blocked, and what’s next, then have Claude file the check-in. Or pull recent updates for a goal, summarize what’s changed, and post the next one — without leaving the conversation.

Synthesize across the tools you already use. Claude Desktop and Claude Code both support multiple MCP connections, so Steady lives next to Slack, Linear, your calendar, and email. Cross-reference blockers from team check-ins against open Linear issues. Pull a Slack thread plus a Goal Story update to draft a stakeholder email. Push today’s digest into a Slack channel before a leadership meeting.

Bring outside context into Steady. Use Claude’s other connections to assemble information from places Steady doesn’t natively integrate with — Jira epics, GitHub issues, customer interviews — and turn them into Goal Stories or check-in notes the rest of the team can see.

Installation

The Steady MCP server URL is https://app.steady.space/mcp.

Claude Desktop: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it “Steady” and paste the server URL. Sign in to authorize.

Claude Code: Run claude mcp add --transport http steady https://app.steady.space/mcp --scope user, then run /mcp and select Steady to authenticate. Full instructions live in the AI Assistants doc.

Security

MCP connections to Steady authenticate via OAuth 2.1 and are scoped to your individual account. Claude only sees the data you can see in Steady. Each person on your team connects with their own credentials.

About Claude

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, designed for thoughtful reasoning across long-form analysis, writing, and software engineering. It's available as Claude.ai (web), Claude Desktop, Claude Code (terminal), and a mobile app, and supports the Model Context Protocol so you can wire it into Steady and the rest of your stack.

Frequently asked questions

What can I do with Steady inside Claude?

Pull your Daily Digest, recent check-ins, Goal Stories, Echoes, and team activity directly into a Claude conversation. Submit your check-in conversationally, draft Goal Story updates that build on previous updates, or chat with your Steady data when you have a one-off question — all without leaving Claude.

How do I connect Claude to Steady?

In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it “Steady,” and use the server URL https://app.steady.space/mcp. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http steady https://app.steady.space/mcp --scope user, then authenticate via /mcp. Full setup details are in the AI Assistants doc.

Is my Steady data secure when Claude can access it?

Yes. Connections use OAuth 2.1, and MCP access is personally scoped — Claude sees exactly the same data you can see in Steady, nothing more. Each teammate sets up their own connection with their own credentials.

Does this work with Claude Code for engineering teams?

Yes. Claude Code supports MCP and connects the same way as Claude Desktop. Engineers can pull check-ins, post goal updates, and combine Steady data with whatever they’re working on in the terminal.
